the cutest gummies to give as Valentine’s gift to my girlfriends
Sometimes life is hard. Magazines and social media often times depict a perfect life while hiding the harsh reality of insecurities and hard times. This past October my husband got really sick and it was tough for me. I don’t like to show emotion, so I kept it together for him, but after leaving his hospital bed I was a hot mess- drowning my tears, alone at home, in popcorn and pinot. I remember seeing a friend shortly after he got home and revealing to her how hard it was for me and how I was still dealing with anxiety from the entire incident. Her words exactly were, “Well, you’ve hidden it really well from the pictures you posted.” She wasn’t being rude, just honest. It made me realize how many times, I too, have been caught up in the perfect social media light. I can recall countless times where I’ve compared the start of my journey to the middle of someone else’s. It’s true: Comparison is the thief of joy and no matter how perfect someone’s life seems through the social media lens, 99% of the time, it’s not.
I’ve said all of that to say this: we must take the time to celebrate the daily joys in life, even when life gets hard and seems unbearable. I’ve decided I want to start a weekly theme on this blog, which is to find the daily joys and share them with you. I hope you will join me, in your own way, in finding joy when the around us is trying relentlessly to show us otherwise. Happy Friday!
